Why Train with CMP?
Creative Movement Practices is a woman (& mom) owned theatre company that is focused on creating sustainable growth and change in the theatre industry. As someone who has been working in educational theatre since 2015, Sarah noticed that many summer camps are formatted in a way where the kids are asked to quickly learn a new show and perform it, but very little time is spent developing and enhancing the skills that would take the students to the next level.
By stretching the camp to two weeks, Sarah believes that the students can have their cake and eat it too! Each day the students will get 3-hours of technical instruction with an hour focusing on dance/movement, an hour on voice, and an hour on acting. After lunch we will run the afternoons like a true rehearsal, with students assisting in creating props and costume pieces when they are not being utilized in rehearsal.
The goal is that by the end of the second week the students have increased technical abilities, as well as increased confidence to walk into an audition and show what they can bring to a production.
