ANNOUNCING AUDITIONS

Every Christmas Tale Ever Told (And Then Some!)

A comedy by

Michael Carleton,

James FitzGerald,

& John K. Alvarez

With original music by

Will Knapp

“Instead of performing Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic for the umpteenth time, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told –plus Christmas traditions from around the world, seasonal icons from ancient times to topical pop-culture, and every carol ever sung. A madcap romp through the holiday season”

CASTING 3-5 Actors of any gender. The play originally calls for 3 actors, but we would like to cast 2 performing swings who will be present and perform in smaller roles for all performances but able to step into one of the main tracks in a moment’s notice. Note that the show is written for the Actors to use their own name when not portraying a character from a story, so the character descriptions below are the names of the actors who originated these roles.

JIM – our “stick in the mud” actor – he/she wants to tell A Christmas Carol, and is not always a fan of the changes constantly thrust upon them by the other actors, but tells each story with artistic integrity and gusto.

JOHN – our “dreamer” – he/she is the one who starts the ‘mutiny’ and is SUPER excited to try something new.

MICHAEL – teams up with JOHN, a bit of a research-nerd/intellectual and sees the mutiny as an opportunity to share other traditions and cultures with the audience as the stories weave in and out of the show.

Stage Manager (Swing 1) – Our first anticipated “performing” swing role – during most nights he/she would be rushing on with the Techie for “impromptu” costume and set changes, but also gets roped into some of the larger song/dance/movement portions. This Swing would get at least one guaranteed performance of a lead track.

Techie (Swing 2) – Our second anticipated “performing” swing role – during most nights he/she would be rushing on with the Techie for “impromptu” costume and set changes, but will also get roped into some of the larger song/dance/movement portions of the show. This Swing would get at least one guaranteed performance of a lead track.

Auditions will be on October 22nd & 23rd and will consist of reading portions of the script with other actors, singing your favorite Christmas Carol, and possible movement work.
